Become a GPN Legacy Mentor

This is a paid role, where you can also develop your own mentoring and leadership skills.

Share your experience and support the next generation.

The Dorset Primary Care Training Hub currently runs a programme to support newly qualified and new-to-practice nurses in primary care.

We are looking for experienced General Practice Nurses (GPNs) to become Legacy Mentors.

What will you do?

As a Legacy Mentor, you will:

  • Support 2 mentees with up to 10 hours of mentoring each month.
  • Join a monthly 1-hour mentor catch-up with the Professional Nurse Lead and Programme Manager.
  • Take part in quarterly 3-hour development and coaching sessions to support your own CPD.
  • Share your knowledge, experience, and expertise to help colleagues grow in confidence and develop their skills.

What’s in it for you?

  • Make a real difference to the development of new and emerging GPNs.
  • Share your knowledge and experience.
  • Develop your own mentoring and leadership skills.
  • Be part of a supportive network of experienced GPN mentors.
  • Contribute to a stronger and more sustainable primary care nursing workforce across Dorset.

We’re looking for GPNs who:

  • Have strong clinical experience and current or recent primary care experience.
  • Have excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Are passionate about supporting and developing others.

 Pay & Commitment

  • £25 per hour
  • 11 hours per month
  • Plus 3 hours quarterly for CPD and development

Ready to make a difference?

If you’re an experienced GPN with knowledge to share and a passion for supporting others, we’d love to hear from you.
