Join the General Practice Nursing Community

Blog post by Nikki Lopez,
General Practice Nursing Workforce Clinical Fellow, Primary Care Training Hub
I’m delighted to share some exciting developments for General Practice Nurses across Dorset.
We’ve launched our new General Practice Nursing Community webpage, sent out the first edition of our nursing newsletter and are preparing to launch a programme of educational webinars this October.
These developments are all part of our wider vision to create a connected, supportive and thriving nursing community across Dorset.
More than 100 primary care nurses helped shape our Community of Practice by telling us what matters most to them. You asked for more education, networking opportunities, peer support and career development, and we’re listening.
Our new webpage will bring together training opportunities, resources, events and Community of Practice updates in one place. We’ll continue to add new content as the community grows.
I’m also incredibly proud to have launched our first nursing newsletter. Created by Dorset nurses, for Dorset nurses, it’s a space to celebrate achievements, share opportunities and showcase the fantastic work happening across our profession.
Our first educational webinar will take place on 1 October 2026 and will focus on Necessary and Immediate Care and the Red Flags in Leg Ulcers, delivered online by Cathy Ulner, Complex Leg Ulcer Team Lead and Specialist Leg Ulcer Nurse.
More webinars will follow throughout the year, covering the topics nurses told us matter most.
This is just the beginning. We’re building a community where nurses can connect, learn and support one another throughout their careers.
I hope you’ll explore the new webpage, join us at our upcoming webinars and become part of this growing community.
