Clinical Supervisor Training

This course is suitable for: Staff registered with the NMC, HCPC and support staff. It is not appropriate for newly qualified staff who are still undertaking their preceptorship.
Lesson Aim: This course is aimed at staff who wish to become clinical supervisors and assumes no prior knowledge or experience. Existing Supervisors may use this course for update purposes if they feel an e-learning update would not be sufficient for their needs.
About this learning: Clinical Supervision is a formal process of support and learning, where supervisees reflect on, and review aspects of their work to ensure safe practice, optimise client outcomes, whilst measuring the impact their work has on their lives to manage emotional demands effectively. However, eLearning update must be completed every 2 years
Learning Outcomes:
By the end of the session the delegate will be able to:
- Review the historical context of clinical supervision
- Explore the concept of clinical supervision, common misperceptions and blurring of other supervisory processes
- Explore the different formats of delivery, their strengths and challenges
- Understand the supervisory process and structures and the roles and responsibilities within
- Explore the key skills required to be an effective supervisor
- Understand current trust clinical supervision policy and mandatory requirements.
