New Dorset partnership secures the future of the Primary Care Training Hub for general practice teams

Healthcare professionals working in general practice across Dorset can continue to access training, coaching and workforce support through the Primary Care Training Hub, thanks to a new partnership between NHS Dorset ICB and the Dorset General Practice Alliance.

The Alliance has been commissioned by NHS Dorset ICB to deliver the Primary Care Training Hub, ensuring that general practice staff continue to have access to high-quality learning and development opportunities.

Dr Dean Spencer,  Place Director (Dorset) at NHS Dorset ICB said, “Supporting a skilled, resilient and sustainable primary care workforce is fundamental to delivering high-quality care for our communities.

“By working in partnership with the Alliance, we are ensuring the Primary Care Training Hub continues to provide accessible, high-quality education, training and workforce development opportunities for primary care teams across Dorset.

“This collaborative approach builds on the strengths of both organisations and will help support the workforce needed to meet the changing needs of our population.”

Dr Forbes Watson, Chair of the Alliance and a local GP, said, “One of our priorities is supporting the people who deliver healthcare in general practice every day. The training hub already offers fantastic learning, coaching and support, and we’re pleased to be helping ensure these opportunities continue and are easy for staff to access.”

The Primary Care Training Hub helps staff working in general practice build their skills and develop their career. It offers training, coaching, leadership and wellbeing support for clinical and non-clinical staff at every stage of their career.

Practices can also access advice on workforce planning, apprenticeships, community networks, and developing the right team to meet the needs of the people they care for.

As part of the transition, the training hub website is being refreshed to make it easier for people to find courses, coaching opportunities, events and workforce resources in one place.

General practice staff are encouraged to visit the website regularly to explore the calendar for the latest education, coaching, leadership and workforce development opportunities.
