Dr Karen Bevan-Mogg from Primary Care International
Dr Karen Bevan-Mogg from Primary Care International will provide an overview of the role of primary care worldwide and its importance in addressing the global pandemic of Non-Communicable disease. PCI was established to provide face-to-face and remote training for health workers at community level, using evidence based clinical guidance developed specifically for low resources settings, using pragmatism and a ‘GP’ approach.
Karen is a GP in Devon. She has also been involved in devising and delivering clinical training plus Operational Planning support for UNHCR’s partners in Jordan and Kenya, Health Poverty Action in Somaliland, Health Builders (Rwanda) and AMPATH in Kenya. She previously worked with Medecins sans Frontiers (Uganda, Zambia) and has been a consultant for International SOS (Madagascar) and Marie-Stopes International (Malawi).

“Non communicable diseases (NCDs) kill 41 million people each year, equivalent to 71% of all deaths globally. Every year, 15 million people die from a NCD between the ages of 30 and 69 years; over 85% of these “premature” deaths occur in low- and middle-income countries”.
