Spirometry Interpretation in Primary Care for Practice Nurses
A Half Day Course suitable for those Practice Nurses who have previously attended spirometry training. This is only suitable for registered professionals and NOT for HCAs
Spirometry is an essential lung function investigation used as part of the assessment and diagnosis of a range of lung diseases. It should be quality assured and only performed by health care professionals who have been assessed as competent against ARTP standards.
A new framework is being introduced over four years from April 2017 to 31st March 2021 to allow practitioners to demonstrate their competence and apply for inclusion on the National Register.
Aims
- To provide information about the National Register of certified professionals and operators and implications for practice
- To provide an interactive workshop to include group work and discussion around setting up and running a gold standard spirometry service
- To provide an introduction to spirometry interpretation
Learning Outcomes
- Revision of the requirements for offering a gold standard spirometry service in primary care
- To understand the requirements for entry onto the new National Spirometry Register
- To develop a structured approach to spirometry interpretation
- To increase understanding of normal and abnormal patterns of spirometry especially in relation to the patient history
PARKING
It is best to park in Jesmond Avenue( BH23 5AY) There is a pedestrian path at the junction with Greenways up through a short piece of woodland. Go left at the top of the path and the surgery is just along on the left hand side. Alternative parking in the Wortley Road (BH23 5DR) pay and display car park just off the main shopping street.
