How general practice can enhance the business through investment in general practice nursing
Are you a General Practice Nurse involved in leading change in your practice or across a system? This being either small change in your practice or change of a large scale in a CCG or STP.
This 2 day residential course sponsored by the team leading the GPN 10 point plan is designed to develop leadership skills for GPNs and is free for GPNs in England.
We will introduce you to the skills and tools you need as part of your future leadership journey, including business skills development.
We will prepare you to undertake a change project as part of the programme and there will be an opportunity for you to develop a bid to access money to take your project forward.
This project must support the delivery of the GPN 10 point plan and improve care delivery for patients or communities.
Workshop content
Day 1
The future of health and social care within the UK is at the top of the political agenda. Politics heavily influences the provision and evaluation of healthcare making it vital for all senior leaders to understand the political structures and processes which help to drive progress.
Learning outcomes:
You will develop a political understanding, discover the local political landscape and the influencing factors which relate directly to your role as a system leader.
You will also gain a greater understanding of the implications for nurse leaders working within a
more ‘politicised’ system.
Day 2
Health and social care integration is a priority throughout the UK. Service transformation is a key factor in improving patient care and the patient experience, whilst at the same time making efficiencies.
The Demonstrating Value masterclass empowers nurses to lead service innovations, demonstrate the value of the transformation and inform decision making.
Learning outcomes:
You will understand how to be an effective champion of economic assessment within an organisation and realise its potential.
You will learn about the principles of economic assessment and how to decide which approaches are the most suitable for your own circumstances.
You will learn how to articulate the value of general practice nursing to key stakeholders to evidence a case for investment in the role.
You will be able to identify the resources needed for delivering an economic assessment and know about further materials and support
