Foundations in Practice Nursing

Attend a fully funded programme of education and skills-based training for newly appointed practice nurses who have joined General Practice in the previous 18 months.
This innovative eight month course will enable the development of clinical skills, new knowledge and learning, to prepare practice nurses for their role.

The course will include:

• Cervical cytology
• Ear care
• Immunisation
• ECG
• Venepuncture
• Wound management

The course will also include an appreciation of General Practice including clinical governance, QoF and the developing role of Clinical Commissioning Groups. Practices will be eligible for a free NMC endorsed Learning and Assessing in Practice, to support those acting as mentors to students on this course.

Entry requirements: Applicants should have a DipHE or equivalent or have undertaken accredited study at minimum Diploma level.

Award: 40 credits at degree (Level 6) or Master’s (Level 7)
