Enhance your Telephone Consultation & Triage Skills – for all clinicians who consult on the phone
(part of our ‘Permission to Take Control’ series)
PREMISE
GPs have been doing a gradually increasing proportion of their clinical work on the telephone, pretty much since the invention of the telephone. This trend picked up in the last 15 years, and has been accelerating rapidly in the last few years.
Most practices offer telephone consultations and do some triaging work on the phone. A proportion of practices have taken the “total triage” approach, whereby all patients speak to a clinician on the phone before any face-to-face appointment.
This course is suitable for:
- Non-doctor practitioners also do clinical work with patients on the phone, including
- Nurse practitioners and practice nurses
- Other extended-role practitioners
- Clinical pharmacists
- Physician Associates
CONTENT
The agenda for the day focusses on exercises in:
- opening & structuring a telephone consultation
- planning
- safety nets
