2-day Introduction to Vaccinations and Immunisations

COURSE OVERVIEW:

This training is aimed at PRACTICE NURSES who are new to providing immunisations and will be providing the full range of childhood and adult immunisations covered in the routine UK schedules.  It will provide clinicians with the latest guidance on national immunisation programmes, anaphylaxis and demonstrate the tools and resources available to manage common incidents and educate patients.

COURSE CONTENT:

  • Introduction to immunology – how vaccines work
  • Vaccine preventable disease
  • The aims of immunisation
  • UK policy and immunisation schedules
  • Managing errors, incomplete and overseas schedules
  • Issues and controversies with immunisations
  • uptake and engagement
  • Legal issues of administering immunisations Prescribing/PSD/PGD
  • Vaccine handling, storage & cold chain
  • The immunisation consultation, communication and consent
  • Practical  injection techniques and competency
  • Record keeping, documentation & reporting
  • Anaphylaxis and adverse events
  • Increasing

It is essential that delegates attend both days of the course: 28th Feb and 1st March 2018

PARKING

Please avoid parking at the surgery. There is parking in neighbouring roads or you may prefer to use the pay and display car park just off the A3, London Road, just off  Kings Road in Mission Lane (PO8 8XF)
