To develop students critical understanding of the core leadership\, management competencies and core professional skills of the GPN. \nThe unit comprises two interwoven strands: a core skill-based component focusing on the acquisition of core fundamental\, specialist skills cytology and immunisations for Practice Nursing alongside the specific professional and personal development essential for effective functioning in the unique and evolving world of General Practice. \n  \nClinical skills taught including: \n\nCervical screening and cytology.\nAdult and Child Immunisations. Vaccinations in primary care\nDiabetes Healthcare Screening\, assessment\, care and treatment. Weight Management\nPopulation health screening and assessments\nPopulation health prevention and promotion\nNational Screening programmes\nFocus upon living with complex and multiple conditions\, person centred and humanised care\n\n  \nProfessional skills including: \n\nLeadership and management as a GPN working in primary care\nWorking in integrated primary and community healthcare teams and systems\, integrated health and social care\nQoF and improving patient quality outcomes\nProfessional and personal development as a GPN\nTo provide safe and effective evidenced based practice in the primary care setting\nPerson Centred\, Safe\, High Quality Primary HealthCare\n\nA range of learning and teaching methods will be used\, such as\, lectures\, seminars\, specialist skills theme days\, cytology and child/adult immunisations\, blended learning\, work-based learning supported by practice mentors. SUMMARY:Introduction to Vaccinations and Immunisations
DESCRIPTION:Provider: Wessex Local Medical Committees \nSpeaker/Trainer: Mrs Cherry Brennan \nThis course is suitable for: This training is aimed at Practice Nurses who are new to providing immunisations and will be providing the full range of childhood and adult immunisations covered in the routine UK schedules. \nLesson Aim: It will provide nurses with the latest guidance on national immunisation programmes\, anaphylaxis and demonstrate the tools and resources available to manage common incidents and educate patients. Foundation training and updates are tailored to suit the requirements of the delegates to their specific area of practice and the vaccine(s) that they deliver. \nLearning Outcomes: \n\nCurrent issues in immunisation\nRecent epidemiology of vaccine preventable disease\nAny changes to vaccine recommendations or national policy\nUpdate on vaccine ordering\, storage and administration\nAny changes to legislation relevant to vaccination\nReview of current practice\, recent vaccine incidents and identification of areas for improvement.\n\nWe will also look at baby imms\, and where appropriate HPV/Shingles and other routine vaccines. \n  \nImportant Information:  \nThis training will be run over Zoom. To participate you will need to install Zoom on your device\, and ensure it is has a microphone\, speaker\, and camera. Please Note: Some trainers will no longer allow you to stay on the call if you do not have your camera operating\, without good reason.
