SUMMARY:Real men do yoga
DESCRIPTION:Yoga is widely considered a woman’s thing\, but the few men who have dared to participate in yoga sessions see lots of benefits. From increased flexibility\, lower stress levels\, and better sexual performance\, yoga can increase your overall mobility\, range of motion and boost your bone health.\nHere’s a few reasons why you should do yoga: \n\n87% of elderly people say yoga helps with back pain (The Telegraph\, Healthline)\nPeople over 40 who practice yoga for five years or more have lower blood pressure (Healthline)\nMore than 40% of people who do yoga feel more motivated to eat and live healthier. (NCBI\, Healthline)\n\n  \nDuring the month of November\, and to create more awareness on men’s mental health\, we’re inviting our men to a 4-week yoga course. We want to encourage men to roll out a mat or blanket and enjoy the mental and physical benefits of yoga! Over the 4 weeks\, our yoga instructor and health and wellbeing coach\, Debbie will introduce you to different styles of yoga\, and help you to relieve tensions and de-stress whilst focusing on a steady breath and steady mind. Everyone from all levels\, especially beginners are welcome to take this course! \nCourse schedule\nWeek 1: Hatha Yoga (Thursday\, 18th November; 1:15pm to 2pm) \nHatha Yoga is a branch of yoga that typically comes to mind when you think of yoga in general terms. The practice involves the breath\, the body and the mind\, and is normally practised at a slower pace with focus on the breath\, controlled movements and stretching. \nWeek 2: Vinyasa Yoga (Thursday\, 25th November; 1:15pm to 2pm) \nVinyasa Yoga focuses on connecting the breath to movements. Classes are usually set at a slightly faster pace and are a great way to improve strength\, muscle tone and endurance. In a beginners class\, modifications will be offered\, and the movements are likely to be slower than in a typical class. \nWeek 3: Restorative Yoga (Thursday 2nd December; 1:15pm to 2pm) \nRestorative Yoga is the practice of asanas (postures)\, each held for longer than in conventional yoga classes\, and with support of blankets and cushions to relax the body and reduce stress. \nWeek 4: Yoga Nidra (Thursday 9th December; 1:15pm to 2pm) \nYoga Nidra is a form of guided meditation\, a method of Pratyahara (withdrawal of the senses) that allows you to scan the body and enjoy a state of relaxed consciousness as the mind settles in a place between wakefulness and sleep. \n  \nNever too old\, never too sick\, never too late to do yoga and start from scratch once again – Bikram Choudhury \nLimited spaces available. SUMMARY:Boosting our wellbeing by connecting with nature
DESCRIPTION:Guided by Wayne and Mick of the Surviving Minds Foundation\, you’ll spend a morning or an afternoon immersed in nature in the beautiful Marl Pits Woods\, between Affpuddle and Crossways. Here’s what they thought: \nI am still daydreaming about the forest ??\, memories of a lifetime. \nThanks so much for organising it was a great morning\, feeling very chilled out ready for the weekend. Really enjoyed spending time with you all. \n\n\n\nImportant stuff \n\nAccess to the site is down a track. Please give yourself plenty of time to walk to the site once you’ve parked. If you need extra access support\, please let us know in advance.\nWe will be spending time around the campfire. Please bear this in mind if you have asthma or breathing difficulties.\nPlease come kitted out for the location and the weather. This could be short sleeves and sunscreen\, or an anorak and a woolly hat – we are in England after all! But you will need sturdy shoes\, as we’ll be walking off-road and into the woods.\nIf you’re joining a morning session\, please bring your lunch. There’ll be an opportunity to eat and chat with others once the session has finished. There will be tea and coffee on hand throughout your session.\nThere is a compost toilet on site.\n\n  \nPlease don’t be late. Give yourself plenty of time to get here – it can often take longer to travel through Dorset than you might think. \nOnce you have booked your place we will send you joining instructions. \nPlease note that we have limited free places at these sessions so you should only book if you are sure that you are able to attend. \nBooking: Please click here to book your place.

Taking a woodland walk\, making a campfire\, talking\, or simply listening and connecting with the woods and wildlife around you… our aim is for you to recharge\, refresh and renew. \nWe’re offering morning (9am-1pm) and afternoon (2pm-6pm) sessions. There’s a maximum of 15 people per session. We also need a minimum of seven people registered\, in order to run a successful session\, so if there are fewer than seven signed up for your session\, we will be in touch to try and schedule you onto another session. \n\n\n\nThere is strong evidence that spending time in nature can benefit both your mental and physical wellbeing by: \n\nimproving your mood\nreducing feelings of stress or anger\nhelping you take time out and feel more relaxed\nimproving your physical health\nimproving your confidence and self-esteem\nhelping you be more active\nhelping you make new connections\nproviding peer support.\n\n  \nAs well as taking some much-deserved time away from your usual day at work\, you could learn practical skills such as starting a campfire. \nYou’ll also learn to tune into your surroundings and focus on what’s around you in that moment. \nBefore the end of your time in the woodland we’ll talk about how you might weave your experiences into your daily life. \nAnd during your session\, if you need us\, a member of the Here For Each Other team will be on hand to chat with you about more ways you can boost your own wellbeing\, or how we can help you with some extra 1:1 or team support. \nYou can book an entire woodland session just for your team\, or mix in and make new friends – we are flexible! \n\n\n\n\nHere For Each Other wellbeing team members were the first ones to try this ‘green’ wellbeing support.

It showed them that it is okay to be affected by a story but to recognise this and to get help if needed” \nPlease register for a place via Eventbrite at the link below\, the details you provide will be shared with Cruse so that they can book you onto their training system. Places are limited and have been funded from the Here for Each Other wellbeing service\, if you are unable to attend your course please cancel and contact traininghub@ourdorset.nhs.uk so that it can be reassigned. \nBooking: Please click here to book your place.

SUMMARY:CQC | Developing our assessment framework: a system perspective engagement session
DESCRIPTION:‘We launched our new strategy in May\, where we outlined how we plan to change and transform to deliver more effective regulation. Further to this\, the Health and Care Bill has indicated that we will have a wider oversight of health and care systems moving forward.\nWe want to develop how we’ll implement our strategy in partnership with people who work in health and social care. To support this\, we’ve been running regular engagement sessions focused on different areas of our work. \nWe’re getting in touch with you to invite you to an upcoming engagement session which we hope will be of interest to you. \nWe need to make changes to our assessment frameworks to help ensure that any future regulatory model works at provider\, local authority and system levels. This upcoming session is a chance to hear our thinking on a single assessment framework and share your thoughts from a system perspective. You feedback will help us as we move through further development. \nThe session \nThis engagement session will take place on Monday 25 October\, from 3 – 4.30pm and will be held on Microsoft Teams. \nDr Rosie Benneyworth\, Chief Inspector of Primary Medical Services and Integrated Care will lead this session. We’ll have breakout rooms for focused discussions and time for feedback. \nThe session will bring together representatives from integrated care systems and local authorities with providers and professionals who work in health and social care\, and the organisations who represent them. \nRegistering your attendance \nPlease use the registration form on our Eventbrite page to confirm your attendance. Registrations will close on Wednesday 20 October. We will not be able to accept new registrations after this date. Places for this session are limited\, therefore please only register for one place per organisation.’

SUMMARY:Loss & Bereavement Awareness for frontline staff
DESCRIPTION:We are pleased to be able to offer fully funded places on the Cruse Bereavement training for primary care staff.\nHere for Each Other are offering fully funded places on the Cruse Bereavement training for primary care staff in frontline roles talking to patients who may have experienced bereavement. Loss and bereavement awareness is delivered virtually over 2.5 hours by experienced Cruse trainers. The course aims to help you to respond to\, and support bereaved people but also considers the impact on yourself and helps you to manage your own and your colleagues wellbeing. \nSome Dorset primary care business support and reception staff recently road tested this training and said: \n• “It definitely opened my eyes and I think it allows staff to have the confidence to speak to patients that have experience bereavement.” \n• “It also helped them to recognise when they\, themselves may have been affected by a story and where\, when and how to get help for this.
