SUMMARY:Peer Support Session for Locum/Sessional GPs

This session will be facilitated and gives the opportunity to discuss challenging cases\, share learning and the challenges GPs face at work in the current times. \nWhat previous attendees have said: \n“It is very reassuring to be in touch with colleagues. It can be very easy in the current climate of working remotely to become isolated. Much needed (and probably underused) service out there for our GP colleagues during lockdown restrictions and social distancing. *We are social creatures!* Great idea to have small groups on the teams meeting calls and it’s good to know I’m not alone here and was able to vent and have honest\, frank discussion in confidential ‘safe zone’ environment…” \n“…It was also good to discuss any difficult cases and offload.” \nSoftware: This is an online interactive session that will be delivered on Zoom. SUMMARY:GP Return to Work
DESCRIPTION:Are you a GP due to return\, or have recently returned\, to clinical work after a prolonged period of absence (e.g. maternity leave or ill health)? Would you like to increase your clinical confidence\, have updates on hot CPD topics\, discuss appraisal requirements and meet others in a similar position?\nThis online course\, run by the Primary Care Training Hub\, will support GPs to return to work after a period of prolonged absence (e.g. maternity leave or ill health) and help build confidence. It offers returners the opportunity to practice telephone and online consulting skills in a simulated learning environment\, take part in CPD updates on hot clinical topics\, discuss appraisal requirements with an appraiser and spend time with GPs in a similar situation\, building a network for peer support. \nThis session will provide up to 3 simulated patient consultations\, an hour of CPD updates\, a session on appraisal and the chance to build relationships with other GPs in Dorset who are in a similar position. The programme will count as CPD points for appraisal purposes and there will be an offer\, to all participants\, of ongoing coaching through the Dorset Coaching Faculty. \nThe course is open to all GPs and GP Trainees in Dorset who have had an absence from work of greater than three months and have either just returned\, or are due to return to clinical work in the next three months. \nWhat previous attendees have said: \n“This worked well for me despite the requirement for it to be a virtual course and I would encourage it to continue virtually.” \n“I appreciated practising the video consulting with the actors as this is a new way of working for me and gave me more confidence.” \n“Chance to role play video consult was great and update very useful.” \n100% of attendees found the course satisfactory or more than satisfactory. \nThe course met all attendees’ expectations. \nSoftware: This is an online interactive session that will be delivered on Zoom.
