SUMMARY:Real men do yoga
DESCRIPTION:Yoga is widely considered a woman’s thing\, but the few men who have dared to participate in yoga sessions see lots of benefits. From increased flexibility\, lower stress levels\, and better sexual performance\, yoga can increase your overall mobility\, range of motion and boost your bone health.\nHere’s a few reasons why you should do yoga: \n\n87% of elderly people say yoga helps with back pain (The Telegraph\, Healthline)\nPeople over 40 who practice yoga for five years or more have lower blood pressure (Healthline)\nMore than 40% of people who do yoga feel more motivated to eat and live healthier. (NCBI\, Healthline)\n\n  \nDuring the month of November\, and to create more awareness on men’s mental health\, we’re inviting our men to a 4-week yoga course. We want to encourage men to roll out a mat or blanket and enjoy the mental and physical benefits of yoga! Over the 4 weeks\, our yoga instructor and health and wellbeing coach\, Debbie will introduce you to different styles of yoga\, and help you to relieve tensions and de-stress whilst focusing on a steady breath and steady mind. Everyone from all levels\, especially beginners are welcome to take this course! \nCourse schedule\nWeek 1: Hatha Yoga (Thursday\, 18th November; 1:15pm to 2pm) \nHatha Yoga is a branch of yoga that typically comes to mind when you think of yoga in general terms. The practice involves the breath\, the body and the mind\, and is normally practised at a slower pace with focus on the breath\, controlled movements and stretching. \nWeek 2: Vinyasa Yoga (Thursday\, 25th November; 1:15pm to 2pm) \nVinyasa Yoga focuses on connecting the breath to movements. Classes are usually set at a slightly faster pace and are a great way to improve strength\, muscle tone and endurance. In a beginners class\, modifications will be offered\, and the movements are likely to be slower than in a typical class. \nWeek 3: Restorative Yoga (Thursday 2nd December; 1:15pm to 2pm) \nRestorative Yoga is the practice of asanas (postures)\, each held for longer than in conventional yoga classes\, and with support of blankets and cushions to relax the body and reduce stress. \nWeek 4: Yoga Nidra (Thursday 9th December; 1:15pm to 2pm) \nYoga Nidra is a form of guided meditation\, a method of Pratyahara (withdrawal of the senses) that allows you to scan the body and enjoy a state of relaxed consciousness as the mind settles in a place between wakefulness and sleep. \n  \nNever too old\, never too sick\, never too late to do yoga and start from scratch once again – Bikram Choudhury \nLimited spaces available.
