Verification of Expected Death (VoED)

Attendance on the course will achieve the following learning outcomes:
- Understand the role of the Registered Nurse in Verification of Death and the conditions set by the Nursing Midwifery Council (NMC) when undertaking this role
- Identify the circumstances when it would be appropriate and helpful for a Registered Nurse to be able to fulfil this role
- Differentiate between verification and certification of death
- Outline the differences between expected death and other patterns of dying
- List the accepted clinical signs of death
- Demonstrate competency in carrying out the clinical observations required to correctly verify death
- Identify the documentation that needs to be completed before, during and after verification of expected death, according to local policy
