Principles of Infection Control for GPNs and HCAs ( Hants)

This training day is suitable for practitioners who haven’t had infection control training for several years or are new to General Practice.
This will be an interactive day which is led by discussion and scenarios that we face in general practice, learning from each other how we can best provide infection prevention within the challenges of primary care and our growing and demanding work load. You will leave this day with new information, shared learning and initiatives to take back to practice to make positive changes towards infection control that are realistic and achievable.
Course content
- Presentation /infection control and standard precautions
- Discussing the management of a virus and bacteria
- Awareness of MRSA/ CDiff / impact infection control
- Principles of asepsis (ANTT) competency frameworks
- Patient case studies discussed to demonstrate good practice
- Practical session on Hand washing with the light box
- Government Policies/ local policies/ resources/Preparing for CQC
You do not need to repeat this day. Once completed, you can access the half day update course on an annual basis or update through other learning strategies discussed on the course.
