Mental Health Education Session

Delivered by Dorset Consultant Psychiatrists.
This online education session is focused on increasing the knowledge and skills of primary care colleagues in managing patients with mental health problems. It is a live, interactive virtual workshop-based session providing the opportunity to discuss real life cases, with a focus on the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on mental health.

Accredited with 2.5 hours’ professional development this education session is open to all Dorset localities and is aimed at General Practitioners, ANPs and AHPs working in primary care.

There will be three sessions running over the afternoon, each with two consultant psychiatrists. There will be the opportunity to ask individual questions and discuss cases.

Topics covered will include:

• Risk assessments in young people who self-harm

• Managing anxiety and depression in young people

• Tips for managing the increase in presentations of anxiety and depression during the Covid-19 pandemic

• Mental health services in the current circumstances

• Managing and supporting dementia patients through a pandemic

• Social isolation is older people
