Introduction to Ear Care for HCA’s

9.30 am Introduction to the course
9.45 am Anatomy and Physiology
10.30 am Coffee/Tea
10.45 am Theory of irrigation, documentation, decontamination of equipment
12.15 pm HCA’s: Questionnaire /Delegation/Mentorship workshop
12.45 pm Lunch
1.30pm Practical session: Otoscopy

3.15 pm Coffee/Tea
3.30 pm Preparation for written work
4.00 pm Results/ discussion of written questionnaire
4.30 pm Conclusion and Evaluation
Mentors will receive a certificate of attendance for an update in ear care
HCA’s will get a certificate following the successful completion of the competency record under supervision and a case study of 1000 words.
It is recommended that students study the prior reading which is attached.

This course is based on the Primary Ear Care Centre programme, which is the National Centre for Ear Care.
HCAs should attend with their mentors who will themselves receive a certificate for attending an update.
Completing the paperwork of the supervision period for the HCAs helps to demonstrate their learning.
