Appropriate Admissions Course – East Dorset

This is an educational event for nurse practitioners and AHPs who work independently in a primary care setting and admit patients for acute hospital admission. It explores the concept of ‘ambulatory care’ and looks at alternatives to in-patient admission at the local trusts.
Real life cases are used to generate discussion and learning on how to manage clinical risk in the community and use timely review as a tool. There are tips on phoning for admission and opportunities for telephone simulation.’
This course will look at the following topics:
- Learn about alternatives to acute hospital admission and using ambulatory clinics
- How to manage clinical risk in the community and use timely review as a tool
- Tips on phoning for admission
- ‘Whether to admit or not?’ Case discussions.
