Please find detail of funding that is currently available to support apprenticeships in Primary Care.

Funding options for non-levy paying organisations:

Apprenticeships are funded via an apprenticeship levy but not all organisations will have this. The Apprenticeship Levy was initiated by the UK government in April 2017, for all employers paying a wage bill of more than £3 million per year.
Employers that meet this criterion are now required to pay 0.5% of their payroll each month as a levy tax. This levy can then be reinvested back into their workforce in the form of Apprenticeship training.

If you are not a levy paying organisation you can:

1) Apply for transfer opportunities:

You can apply for transfer opportunities (for organisations all over the country). You need an apprenticeship service account to apply but you can see available opportunities (including the criteria required and total funding available) without an account.
Visit: Find a business to fund training for your apprentices (manage-apprenticeships.service.gov.uk)

2) Apply to reserve funding by paying 5% towards the cost of training (co-investment):

If an employer has not paid the levy and would to train an apprentice, they need to co-invest. For new starts from 1 April 2019, the employer must pay 5% of the cost of training and assessment for their apprenticeships, to the funding band limit. Government funding of 95% is provided to cover the remaining costs. All co-investment payments are made directly to the training provider.
You need an apprenticeship service account.
Funding must be reserved.
Reservation must be made asap (by employer or their training provider) before confirming an apprentice / course.

3) Request a levy transfer from a Dorset trust (unfortunately not until April 2023):

You would need to request this via our team.
You would need an apprenticeship service account.
Requests are sent to the relevant teams to decide which one will support and you would need to link closest with the organisation transferring the money.

Levy Transfer may be available to help fund an apprenticeship.
